Silence is Not Boring, Joke Hotline, and What's on the Plate?

This week we received news relating to our business.
Our dining room will be 50 seats down from 140.
We have started scrubbing the dining room top to bottom. With the plan of putting in fewer tables as we prepare for opening on Father’s Day, June 21. Opening only for breakfast and lunch until further notice.
Staff will receive training on new protocols and procedures. We are preparing these now, and we will share it with the public as well. We want and will do this right with priority giving to health safety. Prince Edward Island is doing well on the COVID front. We do not wish to jeopardize the hard, stressful work our government authorities have put into preventing further cases. CBC Story here.
We were not surprised to learn today that the cruise ship season is cancelled for 2020, and we expect the same for motorcoach tours as well. Story by CBC here.

Silence And Boredom
Silence is far from boring. Silence is a gateway to another world. To a place of peace. Boredom is the result of expecting too much from this world. Boredom is the result of addiction to culture. Boredom is like a withdrawal symptom.
A boring world would actually be a good thing. More specifically, acceptance of a boring world, because when people are bored they’re more likely to do foolish things. A more contemplative humanity would be less prone to folly.

Just before sunrise Mille and I have not missed a day in thirty going for a nice nature walk. It is an ideal time to hear birds waking to sing praises for the new day. I can’t sing, but I can "give thanks!"

Sitting on the forest floor this morning having my first cup of Ambootia Darjeeling, I heard sparrows, sapsuckers, mourning doves, robins and “the crows.”
You have to like the crows unless you live near Victoria Park in Charlottetown. This is where hundreds if not thousands of them congregate, procreate, and discrete.
But in any event, here are 5 Reasons to Like Crows
A couple of days ago, at work, I took a photo of a robin’s nest in one of our flower baskets on our verandah. We will see what happened next week. Hopefully, predators will not find the nest.
While in the forest this morning, I penned my second haiku ever.

Earlier this week, while driving to work I heard about teens in Calgary who thought seniors needed some cheering up. So they started a hotline, a joke hotline that's getting attention far beyond that city.
The hotline was launched on April 10 by leadership students with the Calgary Board of Education’s Ever Active Schools program. The plan is to spread joy at a time when many seniors are having no contact with others.
After receiving a shout out from James Corden of the Late, Late Show, they started receiving calls from all over the world. Even contributions from the likes of Billy Crystal, one of the greatest comedians ever.

Onto More Fun
If you haven’t seen this video, you will be amazed. The dexterity, ingenuity and persistence of the squirrels are amazing. Suzi, a blog reader from California sent this a video earlier this week, thank you, Suzi. At that time it had had a few views, now it has millions. Important fact: No animals harmed.
This morning, I have been listening to Diana Krall, an album from 2009, called Quiet Nights.
Got to run and jump on the mower and cut some grass in the Gardens of Hope this morning.
I will close with this thought by cellist, composer, and conductor, Pablo Casals, on being unique:

The neatest thing just happened. While signing off, a hummingbird came up to the screen beside me where I am typing, and looked at me for a few seconds and then fluttered away. I thought, wow, I must be sweet. LOL Humble, too! LOL
