October Gave a Party + If We are Lost We Are Lost Together + Something Interesting

October Gave a Party + If We are Lost We Are Lost Together + Something Interesting

And a Beautiful Good Morning from Warren Grove,  Prince Edward Island to YOU.

First things first, kettle on? Is a cuppa ready? Thank you for inviting me to your time and space today.

I will cue the background music before we get going.

How about a little “Peaceful Piano” to start the day. Take a sample listen here.

Laurence Ipsum’s, Silence Will Fall reminds of leaves falling and the beauty of nature this time of year. This composer from Berlin, Germany through his music evokes a mixture of relaxing and tranquil atmospheres.

“Music melts all the separate parts of our bodies together”
— Anaïs Nin

I love the fall. ‘Tis my season.

"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower."
-  Albert Camus

Poet George Cooper says it well...

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band...

Sitting on one of the yellow benches in The Gardens of Hope is a great spot for reflection.  Many come to do so.

We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures. - Thorton Wilder

If you would like to take a stroll through our gardens, Katherine captured some gorgeous photos yesterday afternoon.

Take a peek at our Gardens of Hope Blog.

Jennifer Porter has written an article for Harvard Business Review about self-reflection that is worth reading whether in business or not.

"Research has shown that reflection boosts productivity. Yet few leaders make time for it. Why? For one, they often don’t know where to start. You can become more reflective by practicing a few simple steps. Start by identifying a few important questions. Some possibilities: What are you avoiding? How are you helping your colleagues achieve their goals? How are you not helping or even hindering their progress? Then select a reflection process that works for you. You can sit, walk, bike, or stand, alone or with a partner, writing, talking, or thinking. And then schedule time on your calendar to do it. Start small. If an hour of reflection seems like too much, try 10 minutes. Be still. Think. Consider multiple perspectives. Look at the opposite of what you initially believe. You don’t have to like or agree with all of your thoughts — just think and to examine your thinking."

Why You Should Make Time for Self-Reflection (Even If You Hate Doing It) by Jennifer Porter

Ok, reflection time is over for now.  It is time to sing together.

Blue Rodeo is a Canadian country rock band formed in 1984 in Toronto, Ontario. Along with the CBC they have put this video sing-along-together. Thank you for sending this John S.

Regardless of whether you are Canadian or not, the lyrics speak to all of us.

Lost Together

Strange and beautiful are the stars tonight
That dance around your head
In your eyes I see that perfect world
I hope that doesn't sound too weird
And I want all the world to know
That your love's all I need
All that I need
And if we're lost
Then we are lost together
Yea, if we're lost
Then we are lost together
Stand before this faceless crowd
I wonder why I bother
So much controlled by so few
Stumbling from one disaster to another
I've heard it all so many times before
It's all a dream to me now
A dream to me now
And if we're lost
Then we are lost together
Yea, if we're lost
Then we are lost together
In the silence of this whispered night
I listen only to your breath
Within that second of a shooting star…

While on the subject of Canada, a friend sent me this video earlier this week and it cracked me up.

Enjoy.

Have a wonderful weekend where you find yourself finding yourself. Cuz up here…WE DANCE.

Take care and have a wonder-full weekend.

With love from Prince Edward Island.

ps.

I was playing chess with my friend and he said, “Let’s make this interesting!”

So we stopped playing chess.

I love Autumn! Oh my goodness, those videos made me smile and we were just sharing with our 17-year-old son about the movie Strange Brew. There is so much more of Canada I hope to explore some day. Absolutely gorgeous country and the most friendly people. Thank you for sharing the beauty.
