Is Your Brain Altered?, Where is Matt? and Washing the Car

Good Morning from Prince Edward Island,

Put the kettle on, get out the cream, sugar, etc. and let’s have a cuppa.

I don’t know about you, but my head hurts—time for tea.

This video helps to explain it.

The Brain's Response to Stress - How Our Brains May Be Altered During the COVID-19 Pandemic

With the government moving towards Phase 2, there is a lot to do in preparing to open our doors in New Glasgow. Our store will be in early June and our restaurant will be Father’s Day.

I appreciate the Federal and Provincial government efforts being in place to ensure people will not go hungry. And be able to live some semblance of life will continue for those not employed or underemployed.

Today with will be a short blog as we are rushing to get the store ready. There are a lot of little things I need to do before the maintenance folks arrive at 9 am to install safety shields around the cash area.

I loved this video sent to me by a reader of the blog. Thank you, Lyn.

"We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for madness, we dance for fears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create the dreams." ~ Albert Einstein

There are shortcuts to happiness and dancing is one of them. ~ Vicki Baum

And all peoples of the world say, THANK YOU Crayola!

Atul Gawande is the author of four best-selling books: Complications, Better, The Checklist Manifesto and Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End.

He continues in his work as a general and endocrine surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He is also a part-time professor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Harvard Medical School.

Mass General Brigham, has seventy-five thousand employees! In April, two-thirds were working on site. Yet few workplace transmissions. In the face of enormous risks, hospitals have learned how to avoid becoming sites of spread.

Dr. Gawande has written an article for The New Yorker. I found it to be informative and left me with a strong desire not to be lax in our approach to the phase-in process.

Amid the Coronavirus Crisis, a Regimen for Reëntry ~ Health-care workers have been on the job throughout the pandemic. What can they teach us about the safest way to lift a lockdown? Read the article here

As I write today, I have been listening to J.S. Bach: Lute Works Music played beautifully by Sean Shibe.

We had a few contests lately and the winners' names were drawn this morning. There are 10 Pounds of Fresh Cooked Lobster heading to Alberta and a 100.00 dollar gift certificate to another winner. They have been emailed and just waiting to hear back to announce their names next week.  This week we are giving away a set of handcrafted knives from Nova Scotia. You can enter the contest here

I hope you and yours are doing well and preparing for a lovely weekend.

Take care.

With Love from Prince Edward Island,

Ps.

Yesterday, I was washing the car with my son.

He said: “Dad, can’t you just use a sponge?”

Best of luck on your reopening Bruce. We congratulate all Islanders for really controlling the virus. I wish we were at the same level in Ontario…a long ways to go yet.
