June is Hard. And Also Really Beautiful.
There is something about June that I genuinely cannot fully explain to people who don’t live it the way we do here on PEI. It’s not just busy. It’s loud and full and layered in a way that no other month quite matches.
It’s moving to the cottage and getting everyone settled. It’s end of year exams and parties and getting the flowers and garden planted. It’s Father’s Day and birthdays and opening up the season at the Preserve Company, making sure every little tweak across the businesses is looked after before the summer really kicks in.
June is full. June is a lot.
Five Events in One Week
This year I hosted five different events in the span of a single week. An end of school party, breakfast for 18 of Porter’s friends, Father’s Day, Adam’s birthday, and a sweet little influencer event to launch the Nourished Mind Body Soul wellness line. Each one was its own thing, its own energy, its own setup and cleanup and everything in between.
And honestly? I loved all of it. But I also won’t pretend it wasn’t a lot to hold at once.
The Event That Filled My Cup
The Nourished Mind Body Soul launch event was something I had been quietly dreaming up for a while. I wanted it to feel intimate and intentional, special without being stuffy. Think less formal launch, more Tupperware party but make it actually fun.
I love putting energy into the small details, and this one had plenty of them. Each guest received a little postcard I had painted for them, with a spot to write a handwritten note to themselves that I’ll be mailing out later. There was a beautiful menu, curated gift bags, and every single person got to make their own flower bouquet to take home. It was the kind of gathering where you could feel the care in the room.
We also took some time to talk about something that felt really aligned with everything the Nourished line is about, pausing to be present. Not in a heavy way, just an honest conversation about how easy it is to move through your days without actually landing in them. That conversation alone made the whole event worth it for me.
These are the moments that genuinely refill me. The ones where I get to pour intention into something small and watch it become something people actually feel.
When I asked the room what grounds them, the answers were so beautifully simple. Time in nature, walks in the woods, reading, reading to their children, walks with their dogs, the beach. No one said their inbox. No one said their to-do list.
Me? All of that, plus my morning matcha and one deep breath before the day starts. It’s really that simple, isn’t it.
And then, because the universe has a sense of humour, it didn’t take long for something to come along and test that energy.
Almost immediately after the launch, someone ripped off my entire new brand. Created a social media account using our own photography, our own content, and grabbed the handle so I couldn’t have it. Funny how the people who want to see you fail still can’t stop watching. Adam’s take? “Copying is the biggest form of flattery.” High road it is. Head high, smile on.

The Week of the Exhale
We are heading out west to celebrate Adam’s 50th birthday, and this week is the first time I’ve felt like I could breathe a little deeper. I am so looking forward to time in nature, real nature, tall trees and rugged coastline and all that space to just be. After the June we’ve had, I think we’ve earned it.
Summer on PEI is so special. It really is. But it’s also funny how easy it is to get caught up cramming everything in, stacking the schedule until there’s barely any room left to actually feel any of it.
Before You Go
The season doesn’t have to slow down to feel meaningful. I think it’s more about choosing to actually be in the moments as they happen instead of just surviving them until things “calm down.” Because honestly, they don’t always calm down, and some of the best stuff happens right in the middle of the chaos anyway.
Living with ease doesn’t mean doing less. It means not forcing every single thing. It means letting the good stuff actually land.
This week feels like the first real exhale. And I’m taking it.
Lots of Love,
Marsha
