Common Name: Cydno Longwing
Scientific Name: Heliconius Cydno
Wingspan: 8-43 mm (1.5 - 2.75 in)
Location: North, Central and South America. Mexico to Colombia and Ecuador
These butterflies are characterised by having a very delicate fluttering flight, particularly when hovering around flowers. They commonly nectar at Hamelia, Lantana and Palicourea.are recognized by large eyes, long antennae, elongated forewing shape, long slender abdomen and distinctive color patterns. Distinguished by straight outer margin on the forewing white patch, and the underside hind wing has a double red discal band.
