What you'll need:

  • 1/4 cup (30 g) All-Purpose Flour, spooned & leveled
  • 2 Tbsp (25 g) Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 cup (45 g) Milk Hot Chocolate Mix
  • 1/4 tsp (1 g) Baking Powder
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup (60 g) Hot Water
  • 2 Tbsp (28 g) Vegetable Oil
  • 1/4 tsp (1 g) Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Tbsp Milk or Dark Chocolate Chips

How to make:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, Milk Hot Chocolate Mix, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add the hot water, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Stir together with a whisk or fork until no clumps of flour remain.
  3. Pour the batter into a 12 oz or larger microwave-safe mug and sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top.
  4. Microwave for 60 seconds. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center of the cake. If it comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs (could be a melted chocolate chip), the mug cake is ready. If the batter is still liquid in the center, microwave for an additional 15 seconds, then retest with a toothpick. Repeat until cooked through.
  5. Let the cake cool for a few minutes, then top with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
