Jeff McCourt & Glasgow Glen Farms

Jeff & Grace McCourt-owners of Glasgow Glen Farms, with children Finn and Molly.

Jeff McCourt is an Island born chef, an award-winning cookbook author and Local Food Ambassador. Prior to starting their family farm, both he and Grace were very active in hospitality industry. Jeff served as Sous Chef to Chef Michael Smith for five years prior to becoming Chef at The Inn at Bay Fortune for nine years. He has also worked at The Mountain Lodge and Spa at Delphi, in Ireland, Confederation Centre of The Arts, Red Shores Racetrack and Casino in Charlottetown and was a Chef Instructor at the Culinary Institute of Canada.

Grace's experience includes positions such as Operations Manager with the Inn at Spry Point, Front Desk Manager with the Delphi Mountain Lodge & Spa, Ireland and Corporate Sales Manager with Rodd Hotels & Resorts Ltd. Since 2008, she has been the Program Coordinator with the Executive Master of Business Administration program at the University of Prince Edward Island.

The children enjoy learning the trade from Dad and Mom 100 yards from home.  They can be found to be helping out with all sorts of chores as there are plenty in running a family farm and a successful artisan cheese factory.

Some know Jeff as "the big cheese", as well as a great guy. He, Grace, Finn and Molly live in the village of New Glasgow just up the road from us on Route 258, New Glasgow. Jeff and Grace purchased "Island Gouda" in the fall of 2012 and moved their operation from North Winsloe in the summer of 2014. Already their new place is a hit with locals and visitors alike.

Glasgow Glen Farm is the proud producer of The Cheeselady's Gouda Cheese, a Prince Edward Island tradition for over 27 years. We make our cheese from only Prince Edward Island milk, from local dairy farmers who live by the adage "Happy cows make great cheese!" We produce over 16 flavours of Gouda from a family passed traditional Dutch recipe brought from Holland. New to our line up this year is our Bluda Cheese, The Ewesual- a sheep milk Gouda, Pesto Gouda and Beer Cheese. We are happy to support our local farmers by showcasing their hard work through cheese!

You can order here or stop in sometime and try their many varieties of Gouda cheese, homemade baked goods right out of the wood fired oven and one would be remiss not to mention the homemade pizza.
