Live Each Moment, Good Deeds, Chewbacca

Good Morning from Prince Edward Island,

Time for a cuppa! And thank you for your time today.

Sunrise May 8.

Last week's blog, I had stated in the title, "going to miss you all," and it left a few concerned we were closing our business. My apologies for the angst it brought. The good news is, we are not closing our shop. It is just like you can't close a family. We will be here for a few more generations.

As the pandemic continues around the world, our local news as of today, is we have no active cases of COVID-19 on Prince Edward Island.

Unfortunately, but understandably our borders will remain closed until further notice. More information here.

This pandemic is bringing a lot of pain to families all around the world who lost loved ones. This crisis has brought anxiety to a lot of the world. But it has also brought hope for a better world going forward. Any crisis can be fruitful if we live it in faith.

There is a great realization going on.

I have heard friends say the pandemic has brought their families closer, their teenagers back to the dining room table, and ignited their need to reach out to old friends.

Live Each Moment

by Anonymous

I may never see tomorrow,

there is no written guarantee.

And things that happened yesterday,

belong to history

I cannot predict the future,

I cannot change the past

I have just the present moment,

I must treat it as my last

I must use this moment wisely,

for it will soon pass away

And be lost to me forever,

as part of yesterday

I must exercise compassion,

help the fallen to their feet.

Be a friend unto the friendless,

make an empty life complete

The unkind things I do today,

may never be undone

And friendships that I fail to win,

may nevermore be won

I may not have another chance

on bended knee to pray

And thank God with humble heart,

for giving me this day

There are countless stories of people doing good deeds for others, but I loved this story out of Ireland.

Grateful Irish citizens honour their Famine debt to the Choctaw tribe part of Navajo Nation, which straddles parts of Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. Read Here

I enjoyed this story about Australian filmmaker Jason van Genderen, his wife Megan and their three children who care for Jason's mother Hendrika full-time.

Hendrika is 87 years old and has both Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia. Because Hendrika can't go to the grocery store, the van Genderen family brought the grocery store to her at home. The entire family worked the store while Hendrika shopped for her favourite goods.

Ps.

My son Luke loves that we named our children after Star Wars characters.

My daughter Chewbacca not so much.

Not quite sure what to say, Bruce, about today’s writings. The blog is gorgeous, uplifting: from the waves tumbling ashore to indoor shopping with grandma to reminding me that smiling is, well, free therapy, to driving around the Hope gardens, to Millie tending the quasi campfire. A delightful way to start today…the weekend and coming week. Also and again, many thanks to your photographer for the happy pix…do make them into postcards. Much love. Many thanks. Be well. Be peace.

Thanks Bruce,
Waiting for the border to re-open – and hopefully never to close again.

Hi Bruce and a wonderful, positive and uplifting blog. I loved the lines from Live Each Moment as it has such an inspiring message that we can keep close as we go through this difficult time together. The supermarket at home was heart touching as it brought us the feeling of family and how important we all are to each other in so many ways. All of your clips of pictures were great and keeps us focused on little things that are really big things. Millie of course was watching in that great picture and she is a special animal who will always keep you happy. All the best. Murdock

Thanks for the reassurance that you all will be there for generations to come! And the pictures from the garden were a welcome sight. Glad everyone’s well there and I hope that continues. Have a lovely week!
