Gardens of Hope Respite Cottage
The creation of a cottage of rest and hope for individuals and families dealing with terminal illness has long been the vision of the Bruce & Shirley MacNaughton.
Most of us view the possibility of dying as a faraway concern; yet we all have friends and relatives who are dealing with the diagnosis of a terminal illness. Our hope and prayer is that the garden setting for the cottage will allow its visitors to be ministered by the beauty of nature. The facility will offer privacy, without lessening the overall atmosphere of the gardens. While not a medical facility, the cottage provides not only the necessary amenities for a peaceful and relaxing retreat, but an overall environment of serenity and spiritual tranquility.
The building was St. Joseph’s, a chapel used by the local parishioners of St. Annes and summer visitors to Cavendish. In 2004 the Charlottetown diocese donated the building to Country Gardens Foundation of Hope, Inc and it was moved to it’s present location within the gardens.
